This class explores more challenging, intricate and deeper opening poses in greater depth and detail, offering a more intensive practice. You’ll build strength stamina and flexibility and begin to deepen your practice with pranayama (breath work) As with all levels of yoga, options, variations and modifications of poses will be offered throughout.
Class focuses on individual basic poses with attention to proper alignment, focused breath and general body awareness, working on creating a healthy yoga foundation for all future yoga experiences. Slower paced for the beginner with no yoga experience
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.
Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

JOIN US ON THE SATURDAY OF THE WINTER SOLSTICE FOR THIS SPECIAL 2 HOUR CLASS. CLASS WILL INCLUDE YIN, YOGA NIDRA & THERAPEUTIC HEALING SOUNDS OF CRYSTAL SINGING BOWLS.
The Winter Solstice comes at the middle of winter and marks the longest night. Seasonally, the days will gradually begin to lengthen and the the light will grow over the darkness.
Winter is considered to be a naturally “Yin” time of year: it is passive, cool, slow, and quiet. A time to retreat and hibernate....naturally it goes without saying that Winter Solstice is the most yin time of the year!
Take a pause in the middle of a hectic holiday season to reflect and restore your own inner energy and light. Experience the therapeutic and meditative qualities of the Yin poses. Yin Yoga is a quieter, slower-paced practice that involves passively holding the postures for longer periods of time in order to work our deeper connective tissues. After a reflective Yin Yoga practice accompanied by the therapeutic healing sounds of crystal singing bowls, participants will be guided into a Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) practice. A one hour yoga Nidra practice is equivalent to 3-4 hours of natural sleep, and is a guided practice done in savasana.
Tea and snack to follow.
